Friday Night Fights: KA-POW!! Round 6

Ever since Spacebooger started doing these and saying each fight had to end with a sound effect, I’ve been thinking, “You know what had really good sound effects? Walt Simonson’s Mighty Thor.” Unfortunately, I keep on forgetting to get some Walt Simonson Thor, which is probably some sort of sin. I’ll get around to it eventually, believe you me, but I’ll put up some Thor anyway. As it turns out, the guy’s fights are usually lousy with sound effects. It must be something to do with Mjolnir:

Nothing stops the Juggernaut.Except perhaps the Mighty Thor?We shall certainly see.Yowza! Lots of punching.Things aren't looking too good for ol' Thor.At the very least, Thor can't stop the Juggernaut.

  1. Hmmmm…

I’m so far removed from reading comic books (as opposed to comic strips) on a regular basis, that it’s hard for me to make sense of this.

Did Thor always speak in a quasi-Elizabethan/Shakespearean manner?

And, if so, why? Having taken one semester of Swedish in college, I think I could craft him some pretty awesome pidgin Swinglish that would be better than what he’s spewing here.

Nevertheless, the fight was fun to ‘watch’.

  2. All Asgardians speak like that, and have since they popped up in the Marvel Universe.

  4. This is from the Eighth Day mini-event, isn’t it? It’s probably the only Thor comic I won, except for the one with Iron Man and Captain America.

  5. How the Hocu Pocus can’t Thor stop Cain with a single blow? Too bad if he removed his helmet Cain/Juggernaut is going to be too vulnerable to a single blow of the Hammer/Mljoirn

  6. It is, indeed, from the Eighth Day mini-event.

  7. If you want to use Simonson Thor, don’t use the Loki-Thunderfrog fight. Slay Monstrobot of the Deep and I both used it a few weeks back. In the same week!
