Third Anniversary! …a few days late.

I’ve now been commenting on “The Amazing Spider-Man” more or less daily for three years, as of Friday (I thought the anniversary was the 18th) and I’ve been here at the Meekrat Entertainment Group for a year and two days. During that time, I’ve added the Phantom, Mandrake the Magician, and Flash Gordon to the strips I comment upon, kept a pretty decent handle on updating “Charleston Charge” and “PC/MS”, wrote a novel, launched a sister site of sorts, and met some other nifty bloggers. So, really, the move has been pretty positive for the most part in regards to the Internet and whatnot. My non-Internet life has been somewhat tumultuous, but I’m sure that would have happened regardless. Here’s hoping the next year of Meekrat will run as smoothly as this one did, and also that my non-Internet life also starts running smoothly. Now then, on with the commentary!
Bigshot will most likely end up kidnapping the Sandman’s daughter. I’m far more interested in the Sunday strip, where Spider-Man misses a building. The only times I remember seeing him miss a building were during a drunken fight with the Hobgoblin and several times when his powers weren’t up to snuff. But to see a perfectly able Spider-Man miss a building is something to think about, to be certain. Is this the start of some new sub-plot, or just some random thing thrown in to make the Sunday strip longer? We’ll likely never know.
The other day I was wondering if they had just forgotten about the idol or not. Such a thing would be odd, considering this storyline is named “Idol with No Name”. It’d be like claiming Sabretooth was going to be in a strip and never mentioning him again.
Okay, this went from “I’m pretty sure I know what’s going to happen” to “OH MY GOD THIS IS INSANE” in the course of one strip. Especially disconcerting is Zarkov up there, not only because he’s looking mighty sinister and holding a serious looking needle, but because Zarkov is supposed to be an ally. Is this the beginning of a surreal trip of Flash’s psyche? Tune in next wee to find out!
Hey, happy Phantom! Telling stories about his ancestors! Hooray! Wait, burned-down villages and people in exile? Not so much hooray. Also, if they’re heading into the Misty Mountains, they better watch out for goblins and giants throwing rocks.

Four more years! Four more years! The scenery’s good in Spider-Man’s Sunday strip.
