With Halloween technically over, but the party still going on here, I thought it would be a great time to post the UNFunky Halloween UNSpectacular.  Currently “Pet Cemetary” is on playing, Gage died a quick death to bad Tom Batiuk won’t let Lisa or cancer the comic do the same.  With that said, here is the Halloween weekend special of UNFunky Winkerbean.

As we are all aware there are economic hard times going on in the world today.  There are many people without jobs, and even more going hungry.  So obviously this is the best time to poke fun at the fact that Cory’s dad, Funky, is scraping by and Cory is embarassed by this.  You know what you should be embarassed by Cory? Tom Batiuk.  Atleast Funky is trying to make an honest living, meanwhile Tom Batiuk has been earning hasn’t been earning an honest keep.  If your going to wite a comic, meaning of comedy, its supposed to be funny, not stupid, Tom.

If someone can explain to me the “comedy” in the first two panels, I would be appreciative.  I’ve heard of a throw away joke, but without a joke it’s just throw away, very fitting for this comic.  As we continue on into the panel we see that Tom Batiuk has departed from finishing anything beyond the throwaway and Garry Trudeau, political pundit extrodinaire, has finished the humorless comic.  This one is all about school levys.  The board of education needs new beamers and it’s time the residents pay, after all they do such a great job transitioning children from uneducated to stupid.  In the final two panels we find out that the  in the first two panels ties into the last four, making it one giant throw away.  This brings me to my next point, or question rather, what the hell is a flutophone?  Is that some sort of electric flute?  Does it sythesize?  It falls into that unique realm where lazy outweighs curiousity and so I don’t care enough to look up this stupid instrument.  That was a terrible comic.  Please stop trying Mr. Batiuk, the world has given up on you like you have given up on comedy.
