Where mayhem is the man-fish!

Serious Stuff

You folks should go check out the Daily Comics Review today, because (unless I’m mistaken, which is a good possibility) the guy who founded it is coming back after a months-long sabbatical! I’ll still be doing random posts and breaking the site’s bandwidth occasionally, too, so if you’re not checking it out then you probably should.

20091109 You knocked out a guard. It’s not like you killed him, and as long as you testify against Bigshot in the imminent trial (due, of course, to Spider-Man’s questionable involvement) you should be able to get out of this with minimal fuss. Besides, if we’re going with the movie’s continuity (which is dumb), then the only crimes you’ve really ever committed are attempted robbery, trespassing, and murder.

Wait, that last one is a pretty big one. Yeah, you might be in some trouble. I have to question how you were going to raise a daughter while being a wanted man, too. You so crazy, Sandman.

20091109mOil (at least, after it’s refined and everything) has a pretty unique odor. Now, if unrefined oil smells different from refined oil (a potent possibility), then it’s reasonable that these two would have no idea what the smell is. However, if oil smells like oil no matter what, then after smelling it so often in the middle of this jungle they should have figured out what it was. Also, you know, they brought a bunch of oil with them. I’m sure they smelled it at some point, because they brought a bunch of oil with them which Derek dumped somewhere after they initially smelled this strange smell. I’ll be so glad to be done with Hilda and Melty-Face Nick. So very glad.

20091109pI know this is supposed to be sad and poignant and everything, and it is. I have nothing but sympathy for the Walkers. However, what we’re seeing here is a man in a purple body-suit having a serious discussion with two white kids dressed like jungle natives and there’s a part of me that simply can’t read this without cracking a smile.
