Where mayhem is the man-fish!

Weekend Recap 12/28

Posted by meekrat on December 28, 2009

Here’s your promised catch-up post. Did you see the Christmas Post I did at the Daily Comics Review? I gather that people find it to be impressive. To sweeten the deal, there’s more Spider-Man commentary there for you to peruse! So go check it out. Now then, on with the show.

You can tell it was a holiday since Spider-Man sent about five days saying that Bigshot has a gun and wants to shoot Spider-Man. It’s obvious at this point that Foghorn will do the right thing, but what’s with Sandra in the final panel there? She looks kind of creepy. At this point, I’d welcome speculation about the next storyline, but considering how the only pattern they had (super-villain and then man-in-a-suit) has spent the past year being up-ended, there’s really no reason to even try anymore. But hey, remember last year when Stan Lee decided to do a flashback storyline with Electro and all that? I sort of hope he does something like that again, if only because the web-site’s traffic went through the roof that day.

On a related note, there’s only been three story-lines in Spider-Man this year.  That’s rather sad.

Ah, Klegg and Nestor. I would say I missed them, but I only remembered they existed after the Wheelman got struck by lightning and the storyline wasn’t over yet. I wonder if Mandrake will turn Derek over to Klegg? Probably not, as that wouldn’t be very heroic, but with all the trouble that Derek has caused he’d have it coming.

The Phantom is going to be fighting some pirates, it looks like. This is a good thing. Also, the guy who said, “Start the engines?” looks like one of the thugs from the beginning of the Crocco Island West storyline. I wonder if they’re supposed to be the same guy?

Wartog is kind of creepy, and he also strikes me as the type of being who’d automatically proclaim that a woman with only two arms isn’t suitable to be his mate. So this is an interesting series of events, I guess.

Hm. Two story-lines which involve a figure of authority deciding that one of the protagonists is the one they want as their mate. It’s be extra-interesting if, instead of going after the Phantom, the queen after his son. I doubt that will happen, but it’d still be interesting.

Bigshot knows of Spidey’s Spider-Sense! Snap. Then he must also know of Spidey’s weakness to bricks on the head. Ughnn…!!

After ditching his wife and kids and horse and dog, Kit Walker (for the Ghost-Who-Walks) goes on a millionaire’s cruise.

as for the Sunday Phantom, does he know what is going on or what? cause I see no reason for trying to go incognito into a city then changing into your superhero outfit. As for the weekday Phantom, DUH! unless this guy is an idiot and decided to rub a cruise ship of 500 people alone then yes there are other people, and why haven’t you jumped this guy yet?
