You OTTER Not Comment on Old Posts
Posted by meekrat on January 4, 2010
First and foremost, Friday is Otter Pun Day! It’ll be a magnificent day… at least it OTTER be. Second, I won’t approve comments on posts which are over a month old. I’ve had several in the past week, so if you really want to comment on an old post (two of the comments, both from the same gentleman, could have easily been posted on a current post) then comment on a new post first. Now then, on with the commentary:
Did Bigshot forget that, in addition to killing a man, he also attempted to rob a bunch of banks and kidnapped another man’s daughter in order to coerce him into robbing the banks? I’m not up on my law, but I’d think that such a thing would get Bigshot more than just a few years in jail.
Mandrake won’t give up Derek, because Mandrake is a square.
I like how the Phantom just sort of skates around the question, because saying he just knows his way around the sea doesn’t explain how he took down five or six armed men all by himself. I will admit that being a good seaman might entail knowing how to rough up some guys when needed, but he’s still leaving a lot of mystery. Also, that scene of the Phantom in the storm just reminds me of the opening theme to “Gilligan’s Island”, as does that sailor saying “Skipper” even though I’m well aware it’s a real nautical term. It still reminds me of Alan Hale.
For once, the “NEXT!” box and I are both confused. Who are these others? Other Earth-women? Or does Wartog have a harem of attractive alien women who have rejected him? It’ll be like the Cantina scene in “Star Wars”, except if the Cantina was a brothel!
Why did the queen send aggressive armed guards to do whatever? I’m sure if she had a nice, measured conversation with the Phantom then everything would be cleared up in a jiffy. Heck, she may have said, “Hey, see if Kit Walker would come along for a nice chat.” and the guards may have just taken it upon themselves to do a bit of breaking and entering. I am also slightly unnerved about whatever the Phantom is doing to those women. I know he would not do anything untoward to them (his code may even prohibit him from hitting a woman) but it’s still worrying.

Does anyone know the particulars of the Phantom’s code when it comes to punching bad guys with the skull ring? Obviously, in his civilian guise, he can’t be wearing the ring or marking evil doers with it. But, on the other hand, that’s his big shtick. It seems odd that he wouldn’t feel compelled to mark these guys – what with their being pirates and all – especially.

In the Mandrake strip, I have this issue…
“You have my word as a bounty hunter!”
Yeah, I remember reading somewhere that bounty hunters are the lowest of the low, and that a street mugger’s word is better than theirs’. Honestly Klegg…
