Amazing Spider-Blog
The Amazing Spider-Blog came about on October 16th, 2006 after I discovered the Comics Curmudgeon. I started two blogs at that point, one about the then-terrible B.C. and the one that’s still up and going. It’s by far the most popular thing I’ve ever done, a fact which depresses and confuses me since it’s also the one I put the least amount of work into.
The strip itself has been running since the seventies, and has been drawn by a lot of people. Its writer is always the great Stan Lee, however, and this is also something which depresses and confuses me since the strip itself is quite boring and mediocre. It used to have a large ensemble cast which has been whittled down to:
Peter Parker, the Amazing Spider-Man: A super-hero who seems to have wonky super-powers and a really soft head. He blunders into most of his clues, has an obsession with the television, and takes shoddy photos of himself to sell to a newspaper.
Mary Jane Watson-Parker: Peter’s wife. Formerly a computer saleswoman, she then became an actress. She is very melodramatic, and by all accounts, could do a heck of a lot better than Peter.
J. Jonah Jameson: Peter’s boss, and by that I mean the only person he sells photos to. He is a blustering stubborn old man who hates Spider-Man, and nearly everything else, with a fiery passion. Ah, he runs the Daily Bugle.
Robbie Robertson: Jonah’s second-in-command. He is a calming influence, a friend to Peter, and much smarter than he lets on. He is Jonah’s only real friend.
Maria Lopez: A television reporter whom joined the cast shortly after this Blog began and who has a sort of relationship with Jonah. Since her introduction, she has been nothing but trouble and I hate her.
There’s also a revolving door of villians and gangsters and whatnot for Spider-Man to somehow foil.
You can read the Amazing Spider-Blog posts here. Keep in mind that I am changing the categories on it, so it currently only goes back to June 2008.
